The Education Amendments expanded upon the Vocational Acts. New programs for the disadvantaged, funds to support industrial arts programs, funds to support training volunteer firefighters, and added support for postsecondary occupational education were all provided for.

1974

The Educational Amendments encouraged the development of individual education plans, or IEP's, for children with special needs. These amendments also provided for career education support, the establishment of the National Center for Educational Statistics, and research for problems in providing bilingual education. The Amendments also provided assistance to states in bringing about equity in education for women with the Women's Educational Equity Act of 1974.
