The Gardiner
Lyceum was established in Gardiner, Maine. The manual labor school
was the earliest one to employ applied principles of math and science.

Rensselaer
School established in Troy, New York.

|
An experimental school was established by Robert Owns & William
McClure as part of the New
Harmony Society. The school included an infant school, elementary
school and a secondary school for youth over the age of 12. Pestallozian
ideas were adopted including the concepts of manual labor schools.
